*This scam used to be called Allenwood Consulting Group. Then they started operating under the name, Optiva Consulting Group. Now, there’s a similar scam called Ladida Technologies Inc. I will make it my mission to continue to frustrate these fraudsters.
This review is largely different than all the other reviews scattered across this site. If you have hovered around this site a little bit, you might have found out that I recently just finished college.
Even though I earn what a lot of people would consider full-time income through my websites, I have a lot of free hours and would like to fill out that space with a decent job.
In order to achieve this, I put out my resume on job listing websites and that’s how Optiva Consulting Group came into the picture.
One thing that jumped out at me was the title. It’s too casual for a formal job offer made by an actual company.
Next thing that stood out was how nothing substantial turned up on Google when I did a search for this company. Only their federal corporate information and directory listings showed up. Not even their website appeared near the first few pages of Google.
At this point, I knew I was not going to take the job but I decided to see it out, so I responded to the email that I was interested.
Here is the follow-up email they sent to me…

The moment they started talking about Bitcoins, I knew for sure that this was a scam.
I got a call from their “manager” and he described the whole scam process to me.
They will send you a lump sum of money to your bank account through Interac e-transfer and you are supposed to withdraw it. They said I should print out the receipt after withdrawing and send it to them. Your next task is to deposit this money in a Bitcoin account that they have created for you.
This is the oldest Bitcoin scam trick in the book. After a few days or weeks, the money that was sent to you via e-transfer will be linked to a suspicious or stolen bank account and the transfer will be reversed.
One of the unique features of Bitcoin is the anonymity that comes with it. After putting the money in the Bitcoin account they created, that’s it. They now have the money while you now have a negative balance in your account of that lump sum they sent to you.
Think about this for a second. There is really no reason why they need to make you deposit money that they sent to you in a Bitcoin wallet unless, of course, they want to scam you.
On the header of the job application form, there is a website. I did some analysis on this website and here’s what I found:
The domain was registered on January 20, 2017 by someone called Naresh Raghubeer. The name and address match the federal corporate information of the company.
Before posting this review, I tried to call the “manager” on the number he called me with and it went straight to voicemail.
After that, I sent an email to the guy that sent me the offer telling him that I will write a review explaining why I think this company is a scam and he had until the end of February 14th to give me a reason not to.
He did not respond. In fact, the manager’s number has now been disconnected.
I wrote this review because I discovered there was nothing about this company on Google and I’m sure they might try to scam a lot of other people.
Optiva Consulting Group is a well-thought out scam and since they look to be a registered company, I am considering reporting them to the authorities.
I sincerely hope you found this review helpful. I couldn’t stand the thought of letting these guys scam people unopposed. I would love for you to leave a comment in the box below if you had a similar experience with this company.

To be honest, I don’t think Careerbuilder is aware of this ongoing scam. I also think there are a lot of people using the exact same tactics with other “companies” and it will be extremely difficult for career builder to warn people of every single one of them.

Name of the person has changed to Mark Waner. Phone number remains the same.
At least now people search in Google on Company name or Person name it will show up.

I can see where you’re coming from but I’m struggling to think of what career builder could possibly do to stop these scams to be honest. Some people leave their resumés open for potential employers to find them and this automatically opens up an opportunity to scams like this.

Responded again and then got a mail from the manager himself. I received a training agreement form which am expected to fill and revert. When i received the first mail ii was happy and looked forward for this opportunity (working with WHS Capital).. Then i paused to read again (after the 2nd mail)…
I was not comfortable with the information and asking to forward a copy of my identity like passport, drivers license. They also stated in the agreement that i can hide the numbers on the ID. Off course, this isn’t professional,

Omg! I received the exact email about the position from Tobias. I even started the training on monday. The first transaction they sent me didn’t go thru coz my bank blockes it. Then Tobias wrote back and said be ready for work tomorrow morning at 9am. And its been a week now i haven’t heard from him. Now i am freakingggg out coz they have my information. Thank you so much for this info! I was also contacted by this scam and though all my red flags were up, I still went ahead and signed the contract.
It contains what bank I’m with, what email is used for online banking and I even sent a copy of my license (with the ID number blocked out).
I’m worried my info will be used? They have my address and even my signature. Is there any action I can take to prevent potential identity theft?

I think you’re alright. They can’t do anything with your bank name and email address. Your ID number is blocked out, so I can’t see what they could do with that either.

I had been a victim myself just recently of this shameful illegal activity of this so-called WHS Capital AG. My son was kind enough to help dig deeper into their operation and this is how I came to know about you.
I went to the bank soon after realizing my mistake, to inform them about what happened to make sure that if and when a reversal transaction was made in the future, the bank would block it immediately and I would be protected. I went through the same exact procedures and requirements that this company asked its applicants to do. My concern now is about the driver’s license info that I have submitted to them that could be used for some unscrupulous activity since this is what they are fond of engaging in.
I am sharing my unpleasant experience so as to warn other people into falling prey to this kind of shameful activity. It is really sad that while most of us try to give our very trust to some people to give them a chance to do something beautiful, however oftentimes, it is misused to do something illegal. Now, after going through this experience, many of the victims will find it difficult to give their trust again in the future, to people or company who/that are legit and have real and noble intentions to help. It is indeed sad and disappointing.

I was just contacted this week by Ladida Technology Inc. and they actually have a full website linked to the email. But unfortunately I received pretty much the exact same email form this company and the person who contacted me is Virginia Elliott. Thought it was a great opportunity until I saw the Bitcoin email! This is so terrible and to think how many people are just so desperate for a job they take this chance! Thank You Sooo much for sharing your experience! I wanted to make sure my gut was right and when I saw your story I knew!

Just to keep it brief – I got exactly the same email as Courteney Tatham (word-to-word) from Ladida Technology Inc from an email id career[at]ladidatech.com saying I was selected for an online service manager position…. from a lady named Mary Harris about the mid of April…….I tried calling up the number in her signature but it never connects…… Being suspicious of such a strangely worded contract & unreachable phone number, but to not lose a probably legitimate opportunity, I signed the contract and tried starting the training process by opening an entirely new bank account. Since I gave Mary Harris my number, email & bank details there is no further communication.
Ladida’s website lists it as a technology company with branches in Toronto, Montreal & Chicago involved in domain hosting, website development, SEO etc & owned by Edgard Casimir Lalo Sayo
I chanced reading the bitcoin ATM website about this scam doing the rounds & here I am reading similar experiences by other people !!

Thanks for your email. Had similar experience with so called Invecor. When they requested for my bank details for e-transfer I stopped. They dont need to transfer the money to my account before asking me to transfer same amount to the Bitcoin account when they can do same. SO at that point I stopped and I insisted we have to talk on phone to know more about them. I did some online search about Invecor.org.
Last month got similar mail from Ladida technologies. I am sure, they are same.

I think all they wanted was your money. I wouldn’t worry too much about them having your passport info. However, if you’re so worried about it, you can report to the relevant authorities and work on getting yourself a new passport.

My goodness I also got scammed by this exact same company! I got too excited and fell into their trap (foolish me!) They made an interac transfer to my bank account, I accepted, and converted the cash into bitcoin using a QR code tey provided. That was yesterday. This morning I felt uneasy about it, went to the address (2008-190 Leeds avenue) and as expected, it was not their office. So I kinda panicked, browsed for articles and stumbled upon this. For my safety I just closed my bank account! There was nothing in my account anyway. I didn’t tell Ashley that I was aware of their scam, I played along and now she wants to send a cheque to me, have it scanned and deposited to my (now closed) bank account.

It’s suspicious that when I tried to check their Company Name in google, there are atleast 3 results. Then I tried looking for more until I came across this website. All your posts above are almost the same with their email to me. I think they just use 1 template to SCAM people. That’s why the rates they offer are too good to be true. I already submitted the Job Application form and Contract form for the Trial period. They haven’t mentioned about the Bitcoin yet and I think they will reply to my email (with attached signed contract) later.
I think the reason why they got my resume is because in Indeed and Careerbuilder, the setting is “anyone can view” my resume. So better to change the settings so they won’t bother us anymore with their bogus schemes. I feel bad for these people. They give false hopes that we can have a decent job and earn more through home-based jobs.
I’m sure all these things they do will surely get back to them not just 10x but 100x. I hope the authorities can eliminate these kind of scams online.

Thank you for posting this!! I too received information like this, some parts almost word for word for a company called AGRP Solutions Inc. Ashley Lawrence HR Department phone (226) 406-4100, address stated as 2008 190 Lees Avenue, Ottawa, ON. K1S 5L5.
I too was applying for jobs then out of the blue came this email for an “Online Service Manager” which I know I did not apply for. Ashley emailed that she got my resume from Indeed.com which was a site I was using.
I decided to go looking for info about the company and there is a website: agrpsolutions.com but no other info on google. I decided to read this post and found my answer.
The 2 emails sent to me regarding the position are too similar to your post not to be a scam as well.
Just as an FYI, 2 days prior I received an email from a supposed hiring agency called Smart Jobs. I don’t deal with hiring agencies ever and my gut told me something was up at that time.
Thanks again for this post! I will also be making some moves to put a cramp in this fraudulent behaviour.

I also got the same emails from Ashley lawrence of AGRP solutions. Even though i had my reservations as mails was sent through Send Grid, we were communicating via email and when Bitcoin was mentioned i know it was definitely a scam. I Ignored them since then and they never email me again.

My daughter has recieved all the same emails only they called themselves Core Services Inc. in Markham ontario.The problem is she did not catch on until after she deposited a $2,000.00 e-transfer and then deposited it into a bitcoin atm. When she talked to me about it we did some reseach and it turns out the e-transfer was from a different company, so i found the info. On this company and proceeded to call the owner to find out that they had 3 e-mail transfers occur in thier bank account basically this poor woman was robbed, fortunately by advising her immeadiately she was able to get reimbursed by her bank but my daughter now fears that she will have to reimburse this money that she doesn’t have. They do thier homework we checked core services web site and its a legitamate co. The better business bureau gave them an A+ rating, i doubt that core services even know that thier company is being used in a scam, but i plan on calling them tommorrow to advise them. Is there nothing we can do to put this crooks away for good

Guys, I got the same email as most of you today (Oct 12, 2017) through a recruiting agency out in Vancouver called, SIGnature Recruiting. I am guessing they changed their name again?? I am currently job hunting and posted my resume on Indeed…I replied stating I am interested and curious to know more about the job… after sending the email, I felt something was off and started googling them and that AGRP solutions company mentioned at the bottom of the email…they don’t have a website (AGRP)… Do Not trust a company with no online presence… something my “How to write a resume & job hunting workshop” counsellor told us. Luckily, it stuck. Thank you for the post, Amedu. Glad I found it and will just disregard their emails.

I got the same email (directly above) on the same day. Clearly Indeed and these other websites may need some new ways of weeding out scammer like this. I also got one from called WorldNewsMedia. Active website, even with the job posting, but they asked me if I was interested in taking on a manager position after 4 days, all riding on a bitcoin transaction. I also got one from someone claiming to work for Titan Recruitment Solutions out in Vancouver. After contacting the Managing partner, came to confirm that this was a scam as well. All this foolishness makes it hard for REAL employers who are actually looking for qualified candidates to be trusted.
