*This scam used to be called Allenwood Consulting Group. Then they started operating under the name, Optiva Consulting Group. Now, there’s a similar scam called Ladida Technologies Inc. I will make it my mission to continue to frustrate these fraudsters.
This review is largely different than all the other reviews scattered across this site. If you have hovered around this site a little bit, you might have found out that I recently just finished college.
Even though I earn what a lot of people would consider full-time income through my websites, I have a lot of free hours and would like to fill out that space with a decent job.
In order to achieve this, I put out my resume on job listing websites and that’s how Optiva Consulting Group came into the picture.
One thing that jumped out at me was the title. It’s too casual for a formal job offer made by an actual company.
Next thing that stood out was how nothing substantial turned up on Google when I did a search for this company. Only their federal corporate information and directory listings showed up. Not even their website appeared near the first few pages of Google.
At this point, I knew I was not going to take the job but I decided to see it out, so I responded to the email that I was interested.
Here is the follow-up email they sent to me…

I filled in my phone number but gave them a wrong address. Then I got this email:

The moment they started talking about Bitcoins, I knew for sure that this was a scam.
I got a call from their “manager” and he described the whole scam process to me.
They will send you a lump sum of money to your bank account through Interac e-transfer and you are supposed to withdraw it. They said I should print out the receipt after withdrawing and send it to them. Your next task is to deposit this money in a Bitcoin account that they have created for you.
This is the oldest Bitcoin scam trick in the book. After a few days or weeks, the money that was sent to you via e-transfer will be linked to a suspicious or stolen bank account and the transfer will be reversed.
One of the unique features of Bitcoin is the anonymity that comes with it. After putting the money in the Bitcoin account they created, that’s it. They now have the money while you now have a negative balance in your account of that lump sum they sent to you.
Think about this for a second. There is really no reason why they need to make you deposit money that they sent to you in a Bitcoin wallet unless, of course, they want to scam you.
On the header of the job application form, there is a website. I did some analysis on this website and here’s what I found:
The domain was registered on January 20, 2017 by someone called Naresh Raghubeer. The name and address match the federal corporate information of the company.
Before posting this review, I tried to call the “manager” on the number he called me with and it went straight to voicemail.
After that, I sent an email to the guy that sent me the offer telling him that I will write a review explaining why I think this company is a scam and he had until the end of February 14th to give me a reason not to.
He did not respond. In fact, the manager’s number has now been disconnected.
I wrote this review because I discovered there was nothing about this company on Google and I’m sure they might try to scam a lot of other people.
Optiva Consulting Group is a well-thought out scam and since they look to be a registered company, I am considering reporting them to the authorities.
