Swagbucks Review – What is Swagbucks and how does it work? Is it really worth it? Is it legit or a scam? In this review, you will be learning a whole lot about this company.
What is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a rewards site that compensates you for activities you already carry out everyday online. This company is by far the most popular rewards site anywhere on the internet.
Is Swagbucks a Scam?
Not even close. This review is long overdue and I actually joined Swagbucks a few months ago just to write a review on it. After filling out my account, an offer popped up that I would get a certain number of SB (their virtual currency) if I installed the Alexa toolbar extension for Google Chrome. I added the extension just to see if they would credit me with SBs. They did, so I knew they were for real. Afterward, I uninstalled the toolbar extension 🙂
A lot of other programs have delayed this review but here it is. Swagbucks is not a scam. If a site lets you in for free and they pay you what you earn when they are supposed to, how could it be a scam?
There is a growing list of people now calling Swagbucks a scam. The problem of these people is simple. They breached the terms of Swagbucks and got their membership cancelled or their SB revoked. Breaching their terms could be anything from telling lies on a survey to taking a survey multiple times to get SB points to speeding through surveys.
Before you join a survey site, it is extremely important to read their terms and conditions. Do not give them a reason to not pay you after spending so much time.
I am not a big fan of survey (or any reward) sites in general. However, I can recommend Swagbucks because you use search engines every day anyway, you watch videos regularly, you make purchases online and you do not earn a penny for doing these things. So when a program comes out and says they will pay you for doing these things, why would I have a problem with that?
Little rewards for things you already do is better than no reward at all.
Is Swagbucks Really Worth It?
Before we get into the ways you can earn rewards on Swagbucks, we need to address the mindset you should have when heading into this program.
One mentality you could have is “I purchase stuff online all the time, I watch YouTube videos every now and then and I obviously use a search engine, so why not get rewarded for these things?”. If this is you, then you will enjoy this site. You do these things anyway for no compensation whatsoever. Swagbucks will be very well worth it to you.
There is this other small group of people I call the Survey Lovers. This group is a small segment of a larger group called the Survey Takers, most of whom fall into the next category of people. The Survey Lovers are the folks that already enjoy taking surveys for free. If you would normally take surveys for free, then Swagbucks is a dream for you. You will get the best quality of surveys on this site because most companies trust Swagbucks and guess what? You will earn rewards for taking these surveys.
The last group of people I will be addressing comprises of the people that want to become rich by joining Swagbucks. I call them the “Overdoers” and most Survey Takers fall into this group as well. They want to install all the extensions, they want to play all the games, they want to take all the surveys, they want to play all the videos. They want to do everything to earn as many rewards as possible.
If you fall into the first two categories of people, you have the right mindset to join Swagbucks. You acknowledge that it is simply a nice way to get compensated for things you would naturally do anyway. It’s cool to earn a few bucks or gift cards for using a search engine, isn’t it? The people in these categories would find Swagbucks really worthwhile.
People in the third category will be extremely disappointed for sure. I do not understand why people think they can make any substantial amount of money from taking surveys. If you think you can become rich by completing as many of these activities as possible, wake up and stop wasting your time. You could spend this time building an online business that could indeed make you rich!
How You Earn With Swagbucks
Shopping
There are over 1500 retailers on Swagbucks including giant companies like Amazon, Macy’s and Walmart. You get rewarded SB for each $1 you spend at each retailer. The number of SB you earn varies from retailer to retailer.
If you do not have the SwagButton installed on your browser, you will have to click on the retailer’s website from the Swagbucks platform to get your SB credited. If you have the SwagButton, you can shop directly at these stores.
If you already shop online from these stores, why wouldn’t you like to earn a free gift card for doing what you already do?
Swagbucks Answer
This is the section of Swagbucks that has surveys, polls, and tasks. With surveys, you get questions and you give your answers. Remember, you have to be honest. Polls are mostly yes/no questions and tasks are simple jobs you can do in order to earn SB. The Answer hub is updated daily.
Swagbucks Watch
You can earn SB points for watching videos. You could attempt to make a lot of points by watching videos, but that would put you in the third category of people we talked about earlier. You will only end up wasting time as you get 6 SB for watching a playlist with 20 videos.
The good thing is you can play a playlist in the background and mute the volume and still earn your SB points.
Swagbucks Discover
You can earn SB points just for exploring some special offers by different companies. Some of these offers reward you heavily with SB. I once saw an offer that rewards 10,000SB!
The catch is that even though most of these special offers are free trials, they still ask for your credit card information. It is your responsibility to make sure you remember to cancel with the company involved before the trial offer expires. In most cases, you get to keep the huge SB points if you opt out near the end of the trial offer.
Search
On Swagbucks, they have a search engine powered by Yahoo. You can earn SB points for conducting searches using this search engine.
It’s not as easy as just searching all day and earning points though. They do not award you SB for every single search you conduct. The whole idea is to reward you for how much time you spend on their search engine, rather than how many searches you are able to conduct with.
They allocate these SB points randomly to make sure you are not gaming the system by searching unnecessarily.
Games
You can earn SB points by playing games like Wheel of Fortune and Tetris. You do not earn a whole lot of SB but if you are going to play these games anyway, you might as well earn a little extra SB.
Referrals
This is easily the most passive and convenient way to earn through Swagbucks. For each person you refer to Swagbucks, you will earn 10% of their earnings for life. For example, each time a friend you refer earns 300 SB, you get 30 SB.
What I Liked
- It is free to join
- They give rewards for activities people do every day for free
- They are honest about the fact you will not become rich by using their program
- They have a mobile app
What I Didn’t Like
- 100 SB is a fancy way of saying $1.00. To earn a gift card, you need to have earned at least 300 SB
- It could take a very long time to reach that 300 SB threshold because of how slowly these points accumulate
- It is only available in 7 countries
- You do not get rewards for every search you perform on their search engine
- It is very easy for you to breach their rules and lose your SB or your account
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to use Swagbucks, you have to be:
- Above the age of 13
- A resident of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Germany or India.
Who is Swagbucks For?
I would say this is for anyone that already uses the internet. Everyone uses search engines. Everyone watches videos. A lot of people buy stuff online. So why not get rewarded for stuff you already do at no extra cost to you?
Tools and Training
Most pages have a quick tour guide the first time you are accessing it but it’s not really necessary. Everything is straightforward and self-explanatory.
Support
They have a support page where you can find answers to a lot of questions members and prospective members might have. You can also send a support ticket to get a unique issue resolved for you. They also have social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus with a community filled with members who can assist you.
Final Thoughts on Swagbucks
If are looking at this as a cool way to just earn some cool rewards for doing things you would normally do, then yes, Swagbucks is worth it. It is totally legit and from my experience, they pay up.
If you are looking to use Swagbucks as an additional or even primary income stream, don’t waste your time. There is nothing wrong with looking for an additional or new income stream online, but you need to focus your time and attention on the right things. The only way you can earn actual money through Swagbucks is by getting earning a Paypal gift card. The minimum cash-out on Paypal is $10 which is the same as 1000 SB. Imagine how long it would take you to earn 1000 SB, which is just $10 and not even a substantial amount yet.
If you want to make real money online, you should be thinking about building an online business. You get step by step training, all the tools you need to succeed and a community to give you all the help you will need.
And guess what? It is FREE to get started.
